Contributions from Participants in our Courses

Members attending U3A courses have a range of creative talents, whether they attend poetry groups, creative writing groups, book discussions groups or a variety of other classes.  We've started a segment to publish contributions from our members.    First cab off the rank is Dawn Bruce (pictured) and members of her poetry group.   Click here to visit the page.

Vale Ruby Bliem

Ruby Bliem died on Christmas Day.  She will be greatly missed by the participants of the course "An Enquiring Mind" which she conducted from her home in Chatswood until 2008.

She had an extraordinary life, and the eulogy by her daughter (click here) makes fascinating reading.

Our Wilde Weekend

Kate and Andrew

From Friday 6 March to Sunday 8 March 2009, we held our third literary weekend, this year titled "A Wilde Weekend", featuring Oscar Wilde, GBS (George Bernard Shaw), and Gilbert and Sullivan.  We also had a wonderful talk about Dame Nellie Melba - yes the theme was the naughty nineties (no not the 1990's, but the 1890's), at the Victoria and Albert Guest House, Mount Victoria, in the Blue Mountains.

Many members dressed up in 90's costumes for the two evenings.

Read Nora Hinchen's wonderful description of the event here.
